This tutorial will show you how to create a custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware untethered free jailbreak for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3 / 4 and iPad keeping baseband and optional, activation. We will use a new version of Sn0wbreeze 2.9 allowing us to make a custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware untethered jailbreak, while being able to keep intact baseband to unlock and activate your device.
If you have baseband 6.15.00 will be able to restore to iOS 5.0.1 and iBooty will help to exit Recovery Mode.
Step 1: Download Sn0wbreeze 2.9 and iOS 5.0.1 for your device;
Step 2: Open Sn0wbreeze 2.9 and press the blue button to continue;
Step 3: Click "Browse" and now you have to choose the location where you downloaded the file containing the downloaded iOS 5.0.1.
Step 4: Press the blue arrow to continue and Sn0wbreeze to check the selected firmware;
Step 5: After the verification is complete, will appear on the screen a window where you have three options, namely: “simple mode” / “expert mode” / “baseband preservation mode”, and for iPhone 4 there will be a fourth option "iFaith Mode".
- Simple Mode will make a custom ipsw based on presets;
- Expert Mode allows you to customize what you want to enter in firmware mode;
- Baseband Preservation Mode allows creating a custom firmware but without a jailbreak and keeping the baseband;
- iFaith Mode enables us to select a SHSH, saved with iFaith, to make a custom firmware with it. SHSH that can be used only to restore the same iOS version.
You will choose "expert mode" and click the button "Built IPSW".
If you need to activate your iPhone, then after you choose "Expert Mode", select "General", then select the option "Activate the iPhone (Hacktivation)". Click on blue arrow, then "Build IPSW".
Step 6: Sn0wbreeze will start creating custom firmware, you just have to wait;
Step 7: Now Sn0wbreeze will show you the steps you should follow to enter the device into DFU pwned.
Step 8: After is successfully introduced Pwned DFUmode, Sn0wbreeze will indicate that you can now make your restore using custom firmware that you created, which you'll usually find on your desktop.
Step 9: Open iTunes, hold down SHIFT and click the RESTORE button. Navigate to the location where the customized firmware was created and select it. You should have a name similar to sn0wbreeze_iPhone 4-5.0.ipsw.
If during the Restore process you receive an error and the device remains locked, use iB00ty to exit Recovery Mode / DFU.
